Before It Knocks on Your Door, Stop Foreclosure

January 30th, 2009

Why wait until you get behind your loan payments? Stop foreclosure before it happens.

Before purchasing a home, you must have enough savings to pay your mortgage dues for the first few years. Also, you must have a stable job or business to assure that no matter what happens, you could still afford to pay your mortgages. Do not spend too much. Before spending for your luxuries or other unnecessary items, you have to allot enough money first for your loan payment. Make sure to create a perfect budget plan.

Another way on how to stop foreclosure is to keep in touch with your lender, most importantly when you are suffering from hardship like disability, job loss, or divorce, and when you are falling behind your mortgage payments due to misspending. Ask your lender what loan modifications they can offer so to help stop foreclosure.

When they require you to submit financial documents and a hardship letter, just give it to them quickly so the whole process will not take long. Just make sure that all the information you give them are true because there is no point in lying. It will just put you in a worse situation.

Also, you can get some help from housing counselor of HUD-approved nonprofit agencies. They exist to help stop foreclosures at no cost. Just a little bit of warning, be aware of a lot of scammers who offer stop foreclosure assistance at a price.

But still, the best way to stop foreclosure is to be a responsible homeowner. Work hard, spend less, and save more so you will not fail to pay your mortgage dues. Better be prepared with every situation for you will not know what will happen next. Maybe now you are financially stable, maybe you will be bankrupted later.
